Grab Your Beer! //

During the summer of 2024, I joined in with an artist and audio designer in participating a Game Jam. This was my third game jam participation and the game was created in less than a week.
At the Game Jam, I was the lead Game Designer, Game Programmer, and Level Designer, working with my team to create a game center around a pub-goer going level to level to collect a large print of beer while solving platforming puzzles and avoiding enemy spiders and rats.

The first thought was to create a game of a player carrying a keg and deliver it from the basement to the bar counter. That is until teammates have come up with an idea of having the player chase for the pint of beer instead while avoiding danger. From there, I immediately went with prototyping several key points of the game, including player movement, player action, health damage, and health recover. Each took me about a day to program with some help of some videos I found.

Once I figure out how each coding works and how the game would feel, I work with my team to create a story of a town drunk jumping on platforms and solving puzzles to obtain a giant mug of beer before it gets too warm.

With a light hearted music, a theme feel of being in a pub, and the text being spoken like a drunk friend, the game begin flourish into something that is entertaining. Although the game does have a set back of a box collision that would make the player fly around the room, it still manage to work with no major errors.

It's a project game that given me a chance to figure new skills, game mechanics, and even flex on designing the level and the graphic designing of the main menu and credits. I also give great gratitude to my teammates for making the sprites, audio sounds, and quality assurance during the timeline.
